Biography
Fernando Cordido was born in A Coruña, Spain. He qualified in Medicine and Surgery (mark: excellent) and obtained his PhD (summa cum laude) at the Univer¬sity of Santiago de Compostela, Spain, in 1980 and 1990, respectively. He made his Specialization in Endocrinology and Nutrition at the Fundacion Jimenez Diaz, Autonoma University, Madrid, Spain during 1982-1985. Since 1986 he works as specialist in endocrinology and nutrition in the Spanish National Health Service, since 1990 at the Hospital A Coruña, Spain. He works as Associate Professor since 1989, as Professor at the University of A Coruña since 1999. During 1992 he was Honorary Visiting Registrar at the Department of Medicine, University Hospital of Wales, UK. Presently he is Professor (Full) of Endocrinology and Nutrition, University of A Coruña, Spain and Specialist in Endocrinology and Nutrition, Hospital A Coruña, A Coruña, Spain.He has published more than 200 peer-reviewed scientific articles, books and book chapters. He has received 10 scientific awards. He has received continuous research support as principal investigator over the last 20 years from different agencies.

His main research interest is Pathophysiology of Obesity clinical and experimental. Neuroendocrinology and Pituitary diseases. Growth hormone and ghrelin regulation and actions. Clinical Diabetes.
