Diabetes and Public Health

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a major public health problem in the world. Current international estimates suggest that the disease affects 415 million people and is expected to increase to 642 million by 2040. In addition, 193 million people with diabetes are undiagnosed due to the often mild or asymptomatic nature of the disease.
